How to Brew French Press

The French press delivers a full-bodied, rich cup. A coarse grind and a four-minute steep are the secret.

What you need

  • French press
  • 35 g coarsely ground coffee
  • 500 g water at 95 °C
  • Timer

Steps

  1. Add coffee. Add 35 g of coarsely ground coffee to the pot.
  2. Pour. Add 500 g of hot water and stir briefly.
  3. Steep. Place the lid on and steep for 4 minutes.
  4. Press. Press the plunger down slowly and evenly.
  5. Serve. Pour immediately so the coffee does not over-extract.
