Decaf coffee beans with full flavour: this category brings together coffees you can enjoy in the late afternoon or evening. We rely on gentle processes in which the green coffee is decaffeinated before roasting and keeps most of its aromas. We then roast the beans freshly in Kreuzau, like all our coffees.

There are three origins to choose from. The organic Honduras is decaffeinated with the CO₂ process and tastes of cream, blackberry and cherry. The organic Peru and Finca Franciscanos from Villa Rica are decaffeinated with ethyl acetate (EA) obtained from sugar cane. One shows grapefruit, caramel and grape, the other blossom, Brazil nut and milk chocolate.
All of our decafs work for filter and espresso, and each one comes in 250 g, 500 g and 1 kg bags. If you like to brew a French press or pour-over in the evening, this is where you will find the right bean. They come as whole beans or ground to your chosen grind size, and shipping within Germany is free on orders over €39.
Frequently asked questions
How is coffee decaffeinated?
The caffeine is removed from the unroasted green beans. In the CO₂ process, carbon dioxide under high pressure does the job; in the sugar cane process, it is ethyl acetate from fermented sugar cane. Only afterwards is the coffee roasted.
Is decaf completely caffeine-free?
Not quite. A very small amount of caffeine always remains in the beans, and coffee sold as decaffeinated in Germany must stay below strict legal limits.
Does decaf taste different?
With gentle processes and a fresh roast, hardly at all. Our decafs show clear origin character, from fruity to chocolatey, and can be brewed like any other coffee.
