Behind the cup
Antigua is one of Guatemala's best-known coffee regions. The highland valley around the colonial town of the same name is ringed by volcanoes, and their mineral-rich soils, together with altitudes between 1,450 and 1,800 metres, give the coffee its characteristic depth. Our Antigua Capuchinas is made up of the Catuaí and Bourbon varieties.
The cherries are washed, producing a clear and balanced profile. In the cup, cocoa and toffee meet fresh orange zest, gentle spice and an almond finish. Acidity and body are in balance, with nothing pushing to the front.
We roast it medium as an omni roast so it works in every brewer. As espresso it shows chocolate and citrus freshness; in a pour-over or drip machine it turns round and elegant; in a French press it becomes full-bodied. It pairs nicely with milk as well.
These coffee beans are the right choice if you want a versatile coffee with classic character, one that works as an espresso in the morning and a filter coffee in the afternoon. Order them whole or ground to suit your method.
