Organic Honduras Espresso Fairtrade (decaf)

This decaf brings together three things that rarely meet in one bag: organic farming, Fairtrade and a flavour that does not feel like a compromise. The Arabica beans come from Santa Bárbara in Honduras, where they grow at around 1,400 metres. They are natural processed, meaning the cherries are dried whole, which gives the coffee a distinct, berry-like sweetness.

The green coffee is decaffeinated with the CO₂ process: under high pressure, carbon dioxide draws the caffeine out of the moistened beans in a targeted way. Most of the aroma compounds stay in the bean, and you can taste it. Look for notes of cream, blackberry, cherry and melon, carried by a pleasantly soft acidity.

We roast it light-medium. As a filter coffee, in a pour-over dripper or a drip machine, it is gentle, round and fruity, perfect for an afternoon or evening cup. Brewed as espresso, it turns out mild and fruity rather than bold and bitter.
