Behind the cup
Fazenda da Lagoa lies near Monte Belo in Minas Gerais, Brazil's largest coffee-growing state. At roughly 900 to 1,200 metres, the farm grows Mundo Novo, Catuaí and Bourbon, varieties valued for their sweetness and full body. To us, this is a classic Brazil as it should be: nutty, sweet and pleasantly uncomplicated.
The beans are pulped natural processed. After pulping they dry with some of the fruit still clinging to them, which encourages sweetness and a creamy texture while keeping the acidity low and the flavour round.
In the cup you will find almond and hazelnut, followed by dried fruit and fig. We roast Lagoa medium as an omni roast so it works whichever way you brew: as espresso it is sweet and chocolatey, in a filter or French press soft and comforting, and it performs well in a bean-to-cup machine too.
If you want a dependable morning coffee that loves milk but is just as enjoyable black, this is it. The coffee beans come whole or ground: fine for espresso, medium for filter or coarse for the French press.
